Command Sergeant Major's Biography


Command Sergeant Major Jerimiah E. Gan enlisted in the Army in July of 1997 as a Combat Engineer. A 1997 graduate Crocker High School in Missouri, he holds a BA in Organizational Leadership from Charleston University.

His Military education includes the Key Stone Course, NLC, USASMA- Class 64, First Sergeants Course, US Army Mountain Warfare School, Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course, Sapper Leaders Course, Ranger School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Battle Staff Course, Master Resilience Course, and Drill Sergeant School.

Command Sergeant Major Gan began his career with the 5th Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.. After a tour in Korea with the 2nd Engineer Battalion, he returned back to Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF I). Upon returning, he attended Drill Sergeant School and was assigned to the 35th Engineer Battalion.

In 2006, he was assigned to Fort Benning, GA where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and 1SG in Echo Company, 1-15 Infantry Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, deploying in support of OIF V and VII.

Other assignment include First Sergeant, 31st Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade, the 12th Chief Instructor of the Sapper Leader Course followed by the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He was than assigned to the 326th BEB, 1st BCT, and 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major, where he deployed in support of OUA, prepared the battalion for the Africa RAF mission. He also served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Engineer Brigade. In 2018 he became the Command Sergeant Major for the Army Training Center and Fort Jackson Post Command Sergeant Major.

Command Sergeant Major Gan's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (1 OLC), Soldiers Medal, Bronze Star Medal (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 SOL), Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Silver Campaign Star), Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral six, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral four, Combat Action Badge, Drill Instructor Badge, Drivers Badge (wheeled) Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Sapper Leader Tab, Ranger Tab, Army Superior Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (1OLC).
